Benefits:  Forterra’s benefits may (depending on position) include ten paid holidays per year and up to 160 hours of paid time off (PTO) leave. You will be eligible to enroll in the employer-sponsored medical, vision dental, and flexible spending account (FSA) plans. Forterra’s mission is to secure places—urban, rural, and wild—that are keystones of a sustainable future for all. From wildlands and working farms and forests, to places in the city for affordable housing, parks and the arts, we work simultaneously across all landscapes because they are interconnected. And ultimately people and lands must all thrive together.  To achieve this mission, Forterra works with regional partners and stakeholders to engage in community visioning, planning, policy work, economic development, recreation initiatives, and conservation—all with the aim of making land conservation work for our communities. Forterra also draws on its real estate expertise to help urban communities accommodate new growth while maintaining a high quality of life for all residents.

In urban real estate, we found that social good often loses out to profit. Realizing that resources were the missing element to impactful projects in the urban space, we created the Forterra Strong Communities Funds (FSCF), a social investment fund dedicated to keeping our region inclusive and welcoming to all. The Strong Communities Funds allow Forterra to have greater capacity to compete with other buyers in a fast paced real-estate market. The fund has already helped to secure properties for community spaces, affordable housing and small businesses in Tukwila and South Seattle that were under intense development pressure.

In addition to traditional forest and farm conservation, Forterra’s Transactions Team manages the acquisition and development of FSCF properties and other transformational projects. We fundamentally believe that a community’s health outcomes can be improved through the right sort of real estate development. Our team pursues projects that make homeownership possible for communities at-risk of displacement from our cities and towns, that create welcoming, rich and diverse community spaces, and that bring partners and investors together to make positive change happen. Forterra is actively exploring the use of cross-laminated timber in construction and will expect members of the Construction & Development team to familiarize themselves with the product type and opportunities inherent in CLT construction.

The Sr. Construction & Development Manager will support Forterra’s capital project development pipeline, including ground-up and historic renovation projects, from conceptual design to construction completion. Project responsibilities include the management of project planning, design, permitting, leasing, and construction for at least two and up to four active development projects at a time. The Sr. Construction & Development Manager will also support other Transactions team members during financial feasibility, due diligence, investment underwriting and financing as needed.
